Olena teaches the Technical Tutorial sections in the filmmaking program and will make sure that you will be well-versed in using the camera as well as the editing, sound, and screenwriting software necessary for your productions. Olena started her career in film and television as an interpreter/ director’s assistant in Kiev working on the international features Final Conflict and Americanski Blues at the renowned Dovzhenko Film Studios. Bitten by the movie bug, she used her interests in technology and storytelling to become an early adopter of nonlinear editing software and moved into the editing room where she has worked as a picture and sound editor in both film and television for over 15 years. Always striving to increase her skill sets, Olena has also become an accomplished location sound recordist, camera person and documentary supervising producer. She recently remixed and recolor-timed the award winning children’s film U’Bejani. Some of her other credits include editing the TV series On Safari, supervising producer, editor and second unit camera on the 3-hour documentary series Stalking: The Big 5, The Big Crocs, The Big Sharks for Animal Planet. She also edited the TV series pilot Kid Safari for Catalyst Entertainment of Toronto. A native of Kiev, Ukraine, Olena lives in the USA. She is a graduate of Kiev State University and has a MA in teaching English as a second language. Olena also speaks Russian, Ukrainian and is currently studying Spanish.
